England Gamblers Annie Up
2006 Perlino Mare

England Gamblers Annie Up "09"
|
 |
Both of our 2006
foals were exactly what we had hoped! I told Gambler and Maggie I
wanted a perlino filly, and viola! A beautiful perlino filly with much
more spunk than her cremello half sister.
Her dam and granddam were both bred by Fosters Follies and her sire is our herd sire,
Golden Gambler. We
have been saving this special
little girl for just the right opportunity. Way to go Gambler and Maggie!
The results from UC Davisconfirm Annie is homozygous for black, has one agouti and two cream genes.
When she's bred to any chestnut/bay/black she can only have buckskin
or smokey cream foals. If she's bred to a chestnut or bay stallion who
is homozygous for the agouti, she will only have buckskins! |
This is what Stephanie Pennell
(Gambler's "Mom") had to say about Annie:
Annie was full of life and
personality from birth. She is fiercely independent - only visiting
her dam when she needed milk. She is bold, fearless and always on the
go and into everything. She absolutely LOVES people and attention. She
will be Barb's personal riding horse. I'd have to say that Annie is
perfect for Barb. They have the same personality to a T! Both of them
are full of life and real pranksters. When we bred Maggie to Gambler,
Barb told me she was hoping for a perlino filly. She loved the bay
colt (Gambler's Inside Straight) she got the year before (2005), but
she wanted all girls this time. Surrey obliged with LastChance Easter
Lily FF ("Lilly"), but Barb wanted two for two. The day Annie was
born, Barb called me sounding disappointed. "Steph, you'll never guess
what I got...*sniffle*...a bay COLT! And I wanted a perlino filly!"
There I was feeling disappointed for her and then she says "Ha ha!
Just kidding! I've got a beautiful perlino filly! EXACTLY what I
wanted!" I could've kicked her. Good thing she lives in West
Virginia... Update from
Jan. 09. Annie is under saddle and we had a great summer with
her. Here are some of her pictures this winter.
